Ilanga Training Academy is privileged to have a pool of experts in various management roles. It has a highly skilled and experienced management team, with diverse subject matter experts. It has a dedicated and professional staff. In its own right, the company is helping in skills development by offering some learners attachment opportunities so that learners gain the much-needed experience needed by industry and commerce.

Gibson Maunga (Managing Director)

Gibson is a highly experienced businessman, education, training, and skills development practitioner. With over 28 working years’ experience, Gibson started his career as a High School Teacher soon after completing his Business Management Degree in 1991.  He worked for various organizations in both the private and public sectors in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

He worked as a Tax Assessor for the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority of Zimbabwe between 1992 and 1993. He worked for Old Mutual – Zimbabwe between 1993 and 1999. He gained invaluable experience in the field of Human Resources Management, Client Services, Investments and Portfolio management. His diligence and hard work was rewarded when he was nominated the Best Performing Staff Member at both Divisional and Corporate Level at Old Mutual in 1995.   

He briefly worked on a part time basis for a major wholesale and retail chain in Harare, Zimbabwe as an Operations Executive. Between 2000 and 2002, Gibson was the Investments and Risk Manager for the National Investment Trust (NIT) now called The National Indigenization and Economic Empowerment Board (NIEEB). He gained extensive hands-on experience on the empowerment concept and its application.

Gibson was the founding Managing Director for Sunshine Asset Management Company, a company that was licensed by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. In 2008, he was appointed to the Ollyn Kanyenze Nzuma Board of Inquiry to probe the operations of Chitungwiza Municipality during the tenure of Mayor Mr D. Nota. Chitungwiza Municipality is the third largest municipality in Zimbabwe.

He was the Managing Director of Joint Property Managers between 2004 and 2014. Joint Property Managers was involved in property development, real estate, property auctions and management of properties. Between 2006 and 2014, Gibson used to be a part time lecturer and Examiner for a number of higher education institutions in Zimbabwe. These include PACE College, Certified Commerce and Industry Personnel (CCIP).

In 2015 Gibson joined PC Training and Business College, now Richfield Graduate Institute of Technology (RGIT) as a Lecturer. He moved and joined Damelin College, Braamfontein Campus as a Lecturer in 2017. In 2018 he joined EOH Holdings in their training subsidiaries, Siyaya Skills Centre, Sabela Training Academy and Zuzisa Academy.

In addition to having the Business Management Degree, Gibson has an MBA Degree. He has a Certificate in Supervisory Management. Over the past 27 years, Gibson has attended numerous training courses. A registered Assessor and Moderator for various qualifications for Services SETA, INSETA, W & R SETA, he is also an Assessor for ETDP SETA and LG SETA. A Member of the Institute of Risk Management, South Africa, Gibson is a holder of a Certificate in Supervisory Management from the Zimbabwe Institute of Management. He was a regular columnist in the major daily and weekly business newspapers in Zimbabwe between 2001 and 2005.  

A keen golfer, Gibson enjoys watching rugby and tennis. He is an avid reader of business news locally and globally.
